Auditing Programme

The role of the Auditing Programme is to provide training to Audit officers to enhance their knowledge and skills in public sector auditing.

The courses organised are divided into two, namely functional and elective courses. The functional course is a core audit course that must be attended by all Audit officers. Through this course, Audit officers are trained to increase the understanding and expertise required to perform audits covering financial statements, performance and compliance audits. Under the functional course, each Audit officer has to go through two stages of training. The basic level is concerned with introducing the Audit officer to the essential fundamentals of each type of auditing. Next, the intermediate level course will expose the Audit officer in more depth on each type of auditing. Training methods appropriate to each level are used for the purpose of expertise development and knowledge consolidation.

Elective courses serve to develop the expertise of Audit officers in certain areas of audit such as risk management, taxation and customs. In this course, Audit officers are exposed to specific auditing procedures by field. Hands-on training methods and case studies are among the approaches used that aim to enhance skills, promote thinking skills and decision-making ability among Audit officers.
